Brazilian TV journalist receives first ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America”
Brazilian TV journalist Andreza Brito Vaz de Melo Sá is has received the first ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America.
Andreza works as a reporter and producer for the public TV network Rede Minas in Bel Horizonte, Brazil.
ITF Secretary-General Young-Tae Kim presented Andreza Brito with the Award during the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum.
The 2024 Summit takes place from 22-24 May in Leipzig, Germany. It is the largest gathering of transport ministers and the world’s premier transport policy event.
The jury felt that Andreza Brito’s TV feature “Mobilidade urbana nas cidades históricas” offers a captivating angle on the need for balancing two important considerations: the need to make cities accessible for all and the preservation of our built heritage.
The work shines a light on a highly relevant but not often reported issue; a circle that needs to be squared by planners and policy makers in our cities all the time.
The winner was chosen from a shortlist of five finalists that also included Mauricio Giambartolomei of La Nación (Argentina), Saraí Alas of La Prensa Grafica (El Salvador), Mario Fernández Calderón of Ojo al Clima (Costa Rica) and Yara Guerra of Editora Globo (Brazil).
A total of 89 eligible entries representing 69 different media outlets from 34 cities in 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were submitted for the Award.
