Decarbonising Transport in Morocco: Scenario Definition Workshop
ITF Meeting
The ITF team brought together policymakers and stakeholders from Morocco to advance the decarbonisation agenda and to discuss pathways for decarbonising transport in the country. This workshop was an opportunity to:
- Recap the progress of the DTEE project in Morocco, highlighting transport-related challenges, plans and development prospects at various governance levels.
- Present the current challenges and opportunities related to decarbonising non-urban passenger and freight transportation, as well as urban passenger transport.
- Discuss different transport decarbonisation scenarios for Morocco, varying in ambition and targeting by 2050.
- Foster dialogue on transport decarbonisation across multiple sectors, including maritime, railways, road and air transport.
The event was opened with statements from H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics of Morocco, and Mr. Abdelmajid BenOumrhar, interim Director of Urban Mobility and Transport at the Ministry of Interior of Morocco. More than 80 national and local representatives participated in the workshop.
