Transport and Covid-19: responses and resources

How Digitally-driven Operational Improvements Can Reduce Global Freight Emissions

Digitalisation will be the core driver of a sustainable recovery of freight transport following the Covid-19 pandemic. This study identifies operational improvements digitalisation enables in the sector. It quantifies the impact of individual measures on freight CO2 emissions based on the ITF’s global freight model and presents a comprehensive Digital Transformation scenario that demonstrates what the sector can achieve if it applies all levers in a concerted way.

This study was funded by the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo) and used to develop the findings in their White Paper Solving the Global Supply Chain Crisis with Data Sharing.
