Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety - High Level Round Table on the Implementation of Safe System
17:45 - 19:45 (UTC+1)
Karam 1
This Roundtable organised by ITF explores the practical challenges of implementing the Safe System approach, recognised as the most effective method for improving road safety. Sweden pioneered this strategy with Vision Zero in 1997, inspiring adoption in countries like the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, and Australia. Today, many governments and organisations integrate it into their road safety policies.
ITF has long promoted the Safe System approach globally, conducting research and developing the Safe System Tool to help countries, cities, and companies design and assess road safety programs. Panelists will discuss how the Safe System approach shapes road safety strategies, key implementation challenges, and solutions. They will also highlight how the ITF Safe System Tool has supported practitioners in pilot projects.
The ITF Secretary-General delivers the opening remarks.
