Transport and Covid-19: responses and resources

Launch of the Second Edition of the ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America”

The International Transport Forum (ITF) is pleased to announce the launch of the second edition of the ITF Journalism Award “Transport and Mobility in Latin America.” This award recognises outstanding journalism that highlights transport-related issues of significance for the Latin American region.

Following the success of the inaugural edition, which received 89 entries from 34 cities across 14 countries, the ITF is once again inviting journalists from Latin America and the Caribbean to submit their best work. The award is open to any form of journalistic expression - be it print, broadcast, or digital - that addresses the role of transport in economic development, environmental sustainability, or social inclusion in the region.

Award Details

Journalists are encouraged to submit their work that was published in Spanish, Portuguese, or English between 1 January and 31 December 2024. Entries will be evaluated on relevance, balance, and originality by a distinguished jury comprising ITF experts and communication professionals.

The winner of the ITF Journalism Award will:

  • Be invited to attend the 2025 Summit of Transport Ministers in Leipzig, Germany, as an honoured guest of the International Transport Forum.
  • Receive the award from the ITF Secretary-General during a special ceremony at the Summit.
  • Present their work to an audience of global leaders, including ministers, CEOs, and top academics, and participate in high-level discussions and networking events.

Highlighting the Impact

Last year’s award was presented to Brazilian TV journalist Andreza Brito Vaz de Melo Sá for her insightful feature “Mobilidade urbana nas cidades históricas,” which shed light on the balance between accessibility and the preservation of historic cities. Andreza’s work stood out among entries from 69 different media outlets, highlighting the importance of transport and mobility in shaping our communities.

The 2025 ITF Summit, themed “Enhancing Transport Resilience to Global Shocks,” will once again provide a global platform for the winning journalist to share their insights with high-level policymakers and industry leaders from around the world.
