The aim of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) - Transport Initiative for Asia (TIA) - India Component is to promote a comprehensive approach to decarbonising transport through coherent policies and strategies, co-ordinated among ministries, civil society organisations and the private sector.

The NDC-TIA India Component’s kick-off event serves to inform relevant stakeholders about the project objectives and planned activities. The keynote addresses are by Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog and Karsten Sach, Director General IK, International and European Policy, Climate Policy, BMU. In addition, Corinna Küsel, Director South Asia, GIZ and Stephan Grabherr, Deputy Ambassador, German Embassy also deliver their remarks. ITF Secretary-General, Young Tae Kim provides a special address.

In India, the NDC-TIA programme is being implemented by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) under its International Climate Initiative (IKI). The consortium of partners that will be working to facilitate stakeholder processes and develop selected climate actions include: World Resources Institute (WRI), International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), International Transport Forum (ITF), Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century e.V. (REN21), Agora Verkehrswende and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
