Young Tae Kim mission to Azerbaijan and Georgia

ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim together with Azerbaijan's Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Ramin Guluzade, opened the autumn 2019 Session of the Group on Road Transport organised on 14 and 15 October 2019 in Baku at the invitation of Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mssrs Kim and Gulzudade held bilateral talks on 14 October (photo) to discuss co-operation between the ITF and Azerbaijan as well as the role of the ITF and the ECMT Multilateral Quota for Azerbaijan.

The Group on Road Transport manages the Multilateral Quota system of transport licenses for pan-European road haulage. The licenses enable hauliers to undertake an unlimited number of multilateral freight operations in 43 European member countries participating in the system.

Mr Kim provided insights on the workings of the Multilateral Quota system during an interview for Azerbaijan's longest-established television channel. Details to follow.

Young Tae Kim followed on the Azerbaijan mission with meetings in Georgia where he held a bilateral meeting with Natela Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. During the in discussions Tbilisi, Mr Kim and Ms Turnava explored areas of co-operation between Georgia and the ITF, the participation of Georgia in the Group on Road Transport activities and the ITF Summit 2020 and 2021 preparations.
