Youth on the Move: Young people and transport in the 21st Century

This workshop is a venue for the exchange of expert knowledge and youth perspectives on the topic of youth and transport. Youth and transport are closely connected because young people often require greater access to transport to participate in activities such as education, employment and leisure. How, how frequently, how far and for what purpose young people move (or refrain from moving) matters from a sustainability, economic, livability, health and well-being perspective. However, the aspirations, desires, travel behaviors and expectations of young people are rarely directly integrated into transport policy. This project addresses the travel patterns and behaviors of youth, their expectations regarding mobility and life opportunities and their mobility-relevant experiences, as well as the gaps in policy.
