The Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) is a regional forum on road safety data, policies and practices. Its mandate is to enhance the protection of human life on the roads across Asia and the Pacific through generating robust road safety data; undertaking analysis; and developing policies for road safety actions in Asia and the Pacific member countries.  APRSO was established by a group of international development organizations – The World Bank (WB), Fédération Internationale de l’ Automobile (FIA), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Transport Forum (ITF) and The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UK Aid through the Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF). ADB serves as the secretariat for APRSO. The establishment of APRSO was announced at the 3rd Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Stockholm Sweden in February 2020, following two preparatory workshops in Singapore (March 2019) and Bangkok (December 2019). The First Meeting on the Implementation of APRSO was held in August 2020, this was followed by the Global meeting of Regional Road Safety Observatories in December 2020 which was co-organized by APRSO secretariat and Partners. This meeting will discuss and seek agreement from APRSO member countries on proposed minimum road safety performance indicators and agree steps towards establishing the APRSO road safety database. Another annual meeting is proposed in Q4 2020, this will include discussions on the governance of APRSO and other policy issues.
