Shared Mobility: The Power to Slash CO2 - COP24
Shared mobility in cities can provide all car trips with only 2% of existing vehicles.
ITF transport modellers showed various shared urban transport scenarios using data visualisation tools. These illustrated how shared mobility services would change urban mobility patterns in cities and ultimately decrease congestion, lower CO2 emissions and free up the use of public space. Examples based on real user data from Lisbon (Portugal), Helsinki (Finland), Auckland (New Zealand), Dublin (Ireland), and Lyon (France) were presented.
Several different visualisations showcased results from a full replacement scenario to more realistic cases. We showed that if even only 20% of motorised trips were replaced with shared taxis or taxi-buses, CO2 emissions would be greatly reduced.
