Towards the Establishment of a Road Safety Observatory in Africa

The objectives of the workshop are to shape the way towards the establishment of a road safety observatory in Africa, with a view to fostering the development of a synergistic environment to empower countries to collect useful and timely information to address the road safety ongoing epidemic. The workshop will aim to:

• Listen to the expectations of African countries from a Road Safety Observatory in Africa
• Review the current state of the art regarding crash data collection system in Africa
• Agree on a minimum set of safety data needed for policy making
• Review the various governance options of a future African road safety observatory
• Agree on priorities and a road map to success.

The workshop will involve international road safety experts and government representatives from African countries with a geographical spread and which have expressed an interest in establishing a road safety observatory for Africa
