Secretary-General Kim meets with Union of the Mediterranean
ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim today met with Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Deputy Secretary General Ihab Fahmy to discuss their participation at the ITF 2018 Summit on "Transport Safety and Security" and future co-operation between the two organisations. The Union for the Mediterranean is an intergovernmental organisation of 43 countries from Europe and the Mediterranean Basin: the 28 member states of the European Union and 15 Mediterranean partner countries from North Africa, Western Asia and Southeast Europe. It was created in July 2008 at the Paris Summit for the Mediterranean, with a view to reinforcing the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (Euromed) that was set up in 1995 and known as the Barcelona Process. UfM and OECD recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding supporting Mediterranean countries' policies and strategies.
