Previously one of the worlds most congested cities, Moscow has formed a new partnership that aims to continue its improvements with the design of a new intelligent road transportation program.
The City of Moscow has signed a cooperation agreement with Netherlands-based mapping, navigation and traffic information services provider TomTom that will see the design of a road transport program fit for the city’s future. The agreement will see an intelligent transportation program developed with the goal of improving the overall situation across Moscow’s road network. Moscow is already delivering a leading road network and recently won a 2016 Achievement Award from the International Transport Forum (ITF) for its exemplary approach to improving traffic conditions in the Russian capital. Using data from TomTom’s Traffic Index, Moscow has gone from last place in 2013, to fifth place in this year’s ranking.
