Transport and Covid-19: responses and resources

Emerging Mobility Patterns Task Force

Data are essential to understand changing mobility patterns. Data that tracks how transport is developing helps policy makers to identify how to improve mobility systems and tackle issues as they arise.

Quantitative evidence using reliable data is the backbone of sound policy making, but national statistics offices sometimes do not collect data that tracks new developments. This gap can limit mobility planning and policymaking across administrative levels. Analysis and benchmarking by statistical agencies and international organisations are challenging without comparable data.

The ITF Emerging Mobility Patterns Task Force aims to bridge the gap by identifying the most appropriate indicators and data sources and developing a common methodology and taxonomy. The Task Force unites national data providers, private stakeholders and international organisations to share national case studies of best practices in data collection and maintenance.
