Transport and Covid-19: responses and resources

Innovation Futures: Beyond the Horizon Global Mobility Conference

Innovation, both technological and in service delivery, is a core driver of change. Both transport and society improve with innovation, but not all innovations, nor the disruptions they engender, benefit people and society. How can public authorities prepare themselves to accommodate and foster innovations, including those that are still beyond the horizon? How can transport authorities craft innovative policies to manage and overcome challenges and disruptions which are still unclear at present?

ITF’s Mobility Innovation Hub, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, will convene the second Beyond the Horizon – in conjunction with the Global Mobility Conference – to focus on how public authorities can foster emerging technological and governance-related innovations. This conference will address how public authorities undertake innovation scans, how (and why) they target specific innovation areas and initiatives and explore the mechanisms they implement to actively foster innovation where it is needed.

The ITF, MOLIT and KOTSA will bring together experts within and outside the transport sector, foresight specialists, academics, and innovators from the private sector to discuss how to accompany forward-looking innovations and potential disruptions with an eye to the specific role public authorities can play in innovation policy. It will be an opportunity to share insights on global innovation practices and policies across different countries.

Detailed information will be provided shortly.
