Transport Satellite Accounts
Measuring the impact of the transport sector on the economy is critical for decision makers. Transport Satellite Accounts (TrSA) provide a framework for better measuring the contribution of transport activity. Several countries are working towards TrSA and common guidelines are needed to ensure comparability of approaches.
Despite the significant benefits of TrSA, data availability and differences in methodological approaches make it difficult to build timely accounts. Differences in approaches also may lead to a lack of international comparability of results. Countries agreed the utility of developing an internationally-comparable conceptual framework at a meeting held in April 2018.
