Funding Public Transport Working Group
The project seeks to identify new and under-exploited revenue sources, clarify principles and processes for optimal fare-setting and address the appropriate allocation of funding responsibilities across levels of government. It also addresses the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on public transport systems. It aims to pinpoint best practices and promising initiatives by reviewing and comparing existing and proposed funding models for public transport. It will also explore links between funding models and the design of public transport systems. The Working Group brings together over 35 experts from 20 nations. Funding comes through the ITF’s 2022-23 research programme. The Working Group report will be published in September 2023.
